So this game Destiny is so wide, weird and wonderful. It starts off fairly straight forward but can still can take up hours upon hours of your life, just on Earth. To progress beyond level 20, for me the game changes and becomes so involved and (at least for me) slightly frustrating. I for one could do with some info / pointers on a few things to get my head around.
What is a Strike, and do they differ ?
What is a Raid, and how do they differ ?
Are Bounties worth completing ?
Is the crucible worth playing against Level 31 if I'm only 20 ?
How do I collect vanguard points ?
How do I collect vanguard commendations ?
What are the different types of damage (Arc, solar, void ect) and which weapons carry these attributes ?
What are Legendary and exotic weapons and how do you come by them ?
Any help would be great as I'd rather learn from gamers than waste time trying to find out online.

Is the crucible worth playing against Level 31 if I'm only 20 ?
No, its not unfair or anything else becouse the level is equal in the crucible .
Only in the Iron Banner event it gives level boosts.
How do I collect vanguard points ?
You collect them if you do strikes and bounties.
How do I collect vanguard commendations ?
You get vanguard points if you level up your vanguard.
What are the different types of damage (Arc, solar, void ect) and which weapons carry these attributes ?
The weapons dealing arc, solar and void are made to bring the schields of enemies faster down, but only if u use the right damage ! fire beats fire arc beats arc void beats void.
The easyest way to get them is from doing the raids there you will get primary wapons dealing arc, solar and void damage.
What are Legendary and exotic weapons and how do you come by them ?
You can get them from strikes from the crucible from bounties and from xur (the dude is in the tower from friday to sunday (only exotics from xur!)
When you do raid you will also get wapons with great modifications.
When you do the weekly nightfall it will give you a chance to get legendary and exotic weapons.
